COMMISSION ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT (CLG)

The CLG oversees disputes between localities, assists with negotiations, conducts act-finding hearings when necessary, and writes reports to assist courts in adjudicating the disputes. The CLG also provides technical assistance to localities and state agencies on a variety of issues.

Throughout the year, the CLG also publishes a variety of reports on topics of interest to the General Assembly, local governments, and the public. These include reports on the relative fiscal health of each Virginia locality, state and federal mandates on local governments, and cash proffers.
