The Broadband Advisory Council advises the Governor on policy and funding priorities to expedite deployment and reduce the cost of broadband access in the Commonwealth.  The Council is comprised of 17 members; seven legislative members, six non-legislative citizen members, and four ex officio members.

STAKEHOLDER ADVISORY GROUP: BROADBAND SERVICE TO NEW DEVELOPMENT 

On April 11, 2022, Governor Glenn Youngkin signed House Bill 445 and Senate Bill 446 from the 2022 General Assembly Session. This legislation
creates a stakeholder advisory group to study expanding high-speed broadband service in new residential and commercial development. It states the
advisory group shall be composed of representatives from the following: commercial and residential land development and construction industry, local
government, high-speed broadband providers, and other stakeholders as determined by the Department.
