CDBG-DR Action Plan Virtual Public Hearing

The Virginia Department of Community Development (DHCD) will hold a virtual public hearing on March 25th from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM, as well as two in-person public hearings in the localities affected by Tropical Storm Helene for which details are forthcoming. The purpose of the hearings is to provide an opportunity for public engagement regarding the $46,670,000 in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds awarded to Virginia by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for activities in the Presidentially Declared Disaster areas affected by Tropical Storm Helene in October 2024.

Through coordinated efforts with the Virginia Office of Helene Recovery and Rebuilding, FEMA, and Units of Local Government, DHCD is developing a CDBG-DR Action Plan to identify the intended use of the CDBG-DR funds. An initial draft of the Action Plan is available on DHCD’s website https://www.dhcd.virginia.gov/cdbg-dr.

DHCD will take input from stakeholders at each of the public hearings. Written comments must be submitted via email at feedback.ppc@dhcd.virginia.gov or mailed to:

Any comments received before April 3, 2025, both written and oral, will be recorded, responded to, and submitted in the Action Plan. All comments will be considered but may not ultimately affect programmatic decisions.
