Region Six includes the counties of Caroline, Essex, Gloucester, King and Queen, King George, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, Northumberland, Richmond, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Westmoreland; and the city of Fredericksburg.
REGIONAL COUNCIL
The Regional Council is a certified entity by the State Board that will propose projects and ensure accountability for the use of funds used to support projects endorsed by the Council. The intent of the regional structure is to provide an incentive for regions to collaborate in order to diversify the economy and create high paying jobs in the region.
Regional Councils are business led and include individuals from a variety of sectors; education, government, civic or community leaders, economic and workforce development professionals, local government officials, regional planning entities and nonprofits.
The Region Six Council is currently led by Chair C. William Beale and Vice Chair Carlton Revere and includes the following 16 council members: Wally Beauchamp, Lou Belcher, Elizabeth Crowther, Bruce Davis, Kent Farmer, Darryl Fisher, Steve Goodall, Lisa Hull, Mike Jenkins, Kim McClellan, Leslye McDade-Morrison, Troy Paino, Deirdre Powell-White, Anne Richardson, Bryan Taliaferro and John Wells.

SUPPORT ORGANIZATION
A regional council must be affiliated with or supported by a new or existing organization whose purposes and competencies include collaborative planning, economic development or workforce activities within the region. Region Six is supported by George Washington Regional Commission, led by Tim Ware. The purpose of the support organization is to provide fiduciary oversight and administrative services for the activities funded by monies received from Virginia Growth and Opportunity Fund (VGOF). The support organization operates with the advice and consent of the regional council.
CURRENT PROJECTS
Flexible Office Space Due Diligence (Enhanced Capacity Building) - $50,000
This enhanced capacity building project initiates the development of a 20,000 square foot flexible office space in the Town of Montross. The new facility will be one of the only office spaces of its size and quality in the Northern Neck to the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP).
Pamunkey Net Business Plan (Enhanced Capacity Building) - $50,000
This enhanced capacity building project assists with the design and implementation of a sustainable business model for high-speed broadband delivery to underserved areas of the region. GO Virginia funds will be utilized for the development of a business plan and the creation of a new legal enterprise owned by the Pamunkey Tribe.
