The Community Economic Development Fund (CED) provides support to eligible localities for economic development activities, particularly projects that create employment opportunities for low- and moderate-income persons. The nature of the financial assistance available varies depending on the economic strength of the locality, which is categorized as Distressed, Transitional, or Competitive. Funding totaling $2.5 million is allocated for 2013. Applications are accepted on an open basis from Jan. 1-Sept. 30, 2013 or until all the funding has been allocated.

Eligibility

Units of local government in non-entitlement localities are the only eligible recipients of VCDBG funding. Localities may partner with planning district commissions, nonprofit organizations and other entities to undertake project activities.
