The Virginia Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Planning Grant program provides support to localities for developing clearly-articulated strategies for identifying and addressing their greatest community development needs.
Under this program, eligible localities may apply for assistance to help address a range of issues, including:
- Community Organizing
- Needs Assessment/Economic Assessments
- Project-specific Issues
- Business District Revitalization
Planning grant funding totaling $500,000 is available on an open basis from Jan. 1-Sept. 30, 2013 or until all of the funding is committed. Interested applicants must submit an interest letter using the agency’s Centralized Application and Management System (CAMS).
Units of local government in non-entitlement localities are the only eligible recipients of VCDBG funding. Localities may partner with planning district commissions, nonprofit organizations and other entities to undertake project activities.
