Emergency Home Repair Program to host application workshops
The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is accepting applications to identify service providers for the Emergency Home Repair Program (EHRP) through 4 p.m., Oct 31. The EHRP provides funds for emergency repairs and accessibility improvements in housing units for low-income residents, including the elderly and disabled. New groups or existing local administrators may apply. Participants may log-in to the meeting from their desktops or attend the live session at DHCD in the boardroom.

Virginia Foreclosure Prevention
Community Impact Summit
July 23, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
The alarming increase in foreclosures is presenting serious challenges for many communities throughout the Commonwealth. Join members of the Virginia Foreclosure Prevention Task Force, state and local government representatives, expert panelists, and nonprofit service providers for a Community Impact Summit designed to open the dialogue on minimizing the impact of foreclosures on Virginians.
The summit will be held on Wednesday, July 23 from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, and is open to state and local government and elected officials, in addition to nonprofit service providers. On Thursday, July 24, 2008, DHCD will conduct the Virginia Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) How-to-Apply Workshop for the Area Development and Regional Initiative programs. The Regional Initiative consists of two programs: Telecommunications Initiative and the Asset-Based Development Initiative. DHCD will present information on project development, proposal preparation and evaluation of ARC grant proposals.
